well, well, well. what can i say. 2004 was indeed a freakin BLAST. so many lessons learned, so many endings, so many beginnings...i have no idea where to start.
actually, i've thinking about this entry for a while now, and there were 2 lessons from 2004 that i will always value.
1) pick your battles wisely.
I remember being asked to write a speech on this topic and boy my mind was flustered when i began to actually write. In a nutshell, Ozma - Restart. We are given so much to choose from in life that we must take a step back and realize what is really at stake, what is really important to us, and what is worth fighting for. Petty differences should be set aside, even if you are trying to prove a point. its not worth it. just stop because you'll end up looking like a fool in the end. This also goes with crying. There are many things that will hurt each and everyone one of us, but it is up to us to show our courage for each battle. With each battle comes more clarity of ourselves and our courage. Each battle reveals insecurities that we must face on our own in order to overcome the difficulties of LIFE. But we must always remember, we have the power to choose, to cry, to be courageous, to be a fool, but it all depends on who we want to be in the end. this is definitely something to be selfish about.
next lesson: People make time for things they REALLY want to do.
My piano teacher told me this once when it came to my daily praciticing! AH! and i noticed, why am i online when i can be playing piano? oh, beceause i'd rather be online, duh. people always say, oh, i dont have time. MAKE TIME. WE make time for things we want to do, for things we enjoy. This comes along with prioritizing our life. What is important to us? If education is important to us, then of course, we will study although we dont want to, but know will benefit from it later. Why do we choose to hang out with certain people at certain times as opposed to some other random shit? because, time is so precious that we choose to spend it wisely. at least i hope we spend it wisely. For many others, time is all we have. I really do wish though that time would stop for about 6 hours every single day, so i could do what i wanted to do..or needed to do, and then it would resume again just where it left off..im not asking for MORE time. but just a pause. but of course, life will never come to those terms. but next time you say "i just dont have any time"..do we really? or are we just tired? or is it just an excuse. (on a side note, DAMN cell phones. cell phones give everyone an excuse to be late. its just SO simple to call and be like, oh, im gonna be late. BE PUNCTUAL. PRIORITIZE! MAKE TIME!)..i've learned not to take on too many tasks..i dont ever wanna spread myself thin ever again, but rather, give me full attention to 1 or 2 things. THAT, my fellow xanga reader, is worth my time.
oh 2004. you have been so good to me. you've made every tomorrow better than every yesterday and i could not have asked for it any other way.
